Electric bills are a pain in the neck in most countries but even more so in Jamaica. Here are a few tips to cut that nightmarish bill down. Use led lights. They waste less power and produce less heat than other bulbs do. They may be more expensive but it will save you a lot of money in a very short time.
Use moderate settings for your air conditioning. You don’t need to freeze yourself, just get the heat down to little below body temperature. If you must use an air conditioning unit make sure it is one with the inverter feature. They use significantly less electricity.
Fans burn less power, so that is an alternative to using an AC unit. Turn off whatever lights or appliances you are not using. If you are not in the room who are you providing lighting for?
Get energy efficient appliances. Got an old refrigerator or tv? Ditch them. Led televisions and modern freezers use less power.
Avoid using high energy appliances at the same time. For example, when you are using the washing machine, do not plug in your iron.
